The Teatro Carlo Felice is the main opera house in Genoa and one of the most famous in Italy. In addition to the Opera season, the Ballet and the Symphonic season, recitals and many other events are also held. Built on the site of the old Carlo Felice, the new theatre, designed by Aldo Rossi, takes on board the concept of a covered square, with a surface area of 400 square metres, in which the theatre provides a perfect link between Galleria Mazzini and Piazza De Ferrari. Inaugurated in the early years of the 19th century, the performances were never suspended, not even after 1943 bombings, that almost destroyed the theatre.
